Head of the CIRETEC-GT laboratory, Prof. I.V. Ilyin, has long been a supporter of an interdisciplinary approach to organizing research. Largely due to this, it was possible to form a research team for the implementation of the mega-grant "Technological Challenges and Socioeconomic Transformation in the Context of Energy Transition" (Agreement No. 075-15-2022-1136 dated July 1, 2022) from among employees of various SPbPU institutes and other organizations.

As an example of interesting results obtained at the intersection of sciences and specialties, we can cite the results of research by the research team at the intersection of two tasks of the 2024 work plan. Thus, for the current year, the team faced two different tasks - a study of the prospects for the development of hydrogen energy (the laboratory research group led by Senior Researcher, Professor V.V. Korablyov) and the development of IT models and digital support for energy system management (the laboratory research group led by the Head of the Laboratory, Professor I.V. Ilyin). The team members conducted a study at the intersection of these scientific tasks: they studied the possibilities of hydrogen production at existing hydroelectric power plants and the development of IT architecture and digital support for such energy systems in order to increase their efficiency. The following members of the research team took part in this study under the guidance of the leaders of the research groups: Senior Researcher A.S. Dubgorn, Senior Researcher A.I. Levina, Researcher Lepyokhin A.A., young scientists (students and graduate students) Shemyakina A.A., Rukina P.A., Sluzhaev A.S.

Green Hydrogen Production Process by Electrolysis Using Hydroelectric Power

The experience turned out to be extremely productive, both in terms of content and in terms of the reported results. As a result of the work at the intersection of tasks, the following were published:
• 2 articles were published (in Q1 journals):
o Korablev V.V., Ilin, I.V., Levina, A.I., Shemyakina, A.A. Economic assessment of the life cycle of hydrogen production at hydroapplications. International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2024, 68, pp. 696–704 (WoS, Q1),
o Shemyakina, A.A., Levina, A.I., Korablev V.V., Lepekhin A.A, Architecture of the management system for hydrogen production at hydropplications. International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2024, 69, pp. 1227-1235 (WoS, Q1)
• submitted to the journal, accepted for publication and will be published in 2024. 1 article (in the journal Q1),
• 1 RID registered (certificate for the database),
• Master's thesis in the direction of "Business Informatics" was defended by the young scientist Shemyakina A.A. under the supervision of senior researcher Dubgorn A.S.,
• the competition of the Committee on Science and Higher School of St. Petersburg was won by Shemyakina A.A.,
• Shemyakina A.A. entered graduate school with a topic that develops previously achieved results.
It should be noted that the idea of interdisciplinary research is also reflected in the RSF grant won and implemented in the laboratory since 2024 "Digital Transformation and Energy Transition: Symbiosis and Synergy of Technological Trends" under the supervision of prof. Ilyin I.V. Thus, the ideas developed during the mega-grant research were further developed and supported by the research community.
