From May 20 to June 20, 2024, employees of the laboratory "Interdisciplinary Research and Education on Technological and Economic Problems of Energy Transition (CIRETEC-GT)" of the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Ksenia Velmozhina and Polina Shinkevich, completed an internship at the Institute of Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.

The internship topic of Ksenia Velmozhina was focused on the analysis and forecasting of electricity consumption by the population in the regions of Russia using mathematical modeling. The main goal of her work was to study the methods of mathematical modeling that allow for the effective analysis and forecasting of changes in electricity consumption, which is important for understanding the needs of the population and planning energy resources in various regions of our country. Polina Shinkevich, in turn, was engaged in assessing the risks of transition to a low-carbon economy. As part of her internship, she studied a comprehensive methodology for assessing the risks associated with the transition to low-carbon development models, taking into account the most important economic, social and environmental factors. This work is aimed at identifying potential risks and developing recommendations for the successful implementation of low-carbon strategies at the level of individual enterprises and the entire economy of the country. Both internships consisted of active training, participation in seminars and practical classes, which became an excellent opportunity for professional growth and exchange of experience between young scientists and leading experts in the field of forecasting and analysis of energy consumption. The knowledge and skills acquired during the internship will contribute to further scientific research and development in the CIRETEC-GT laboratory, and will also contribute to the implementation of projects related to the energy transition and sustainable development of our country.

We wish Ksenia Velmozhina and Polina Shinkevich further success in their scientific activities and hope for new achievements in the field of interdisciplinary research!
