According to the tradition that has developed by the third year of the mega-grant implementation, in August the leading scientist, chief researcher of the CIRETEC-GT laboratory, prof. Tessaleno Campos Devezas.
Despite the fact that Prof. Devezas T.K. collaborates with the laboratory remotely for most of the year, an effective system of laboratory management and communication between the members of the research team and the leading scientist has been built. From an organizational point of view, the leading scientist adheres to the principles of project management. He was the initiator of the allocation of thematic research teams within the research team, whose leaders are responsible for the implementation of individual research areas. During regular online meetings of the research team, the project progress is monitored and the teams' actions are coordinated.
In 2024, the leading scientist spent more than a month in the laboratory. During the visit, meetings were held with individual research groups on the mega-grant, the results of work for the current year and for the entire period were reviewed, and preliminary results of the project implementation were summed up.
Prof. Devezas T.K. held the second seminar "Materials for a low-carbon economy" on August 20, 2024. The leading scientist presented the results of the work of the team members under his leadership on the item of the 2024 work plan "Development of requirements for materials for a low-carbon economy". To obtain results in this area, the leading scientist actively involved members of the research team - to collect data, develop software products for calculations, to describe and analyze the research results in the form of articles. The laboratory staff and invited guests who attended the seminar in person and online discussed the results of the calculations, the risks of the transition to a low-carbon economy, the feasibility of the widespread introduction of renewable energy sources, and expressed, among other things, certain critical comments regarding the "green" agenda.
Special attention during the visit of prof. Devezas devoted his time to completing the monograph “Global Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Challenges: Models, Regions, Scenarios, Materials and Technologies”, work on which began in 2023, led by members of the team and which is planned to be published by Springer at the end of 2024.
