On 19.12.2023 the PhD thesis defense of Pavel Yurievich MIKHEEV, a member of the scientific team of the CIRETEC-GT laboratory, took place. Pavel Yuryevich successfully delivered a report on his dissertation on the topic “Methodology for determining emissions of pollutants during the life cycle of wind power plants,” submitted for the degree of candidate of technical sciences in the specialty “Geoecology” in the dissertation council У.1.6.21.46, created on the basis of the Civil Engineering Institute of Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University.

The scientific contribution of this dissertation was the development of a methodology and obtaining values of pollutant emissions during the production of elements of wind power plants (WPPs) and wind farms, during construction work and maintenance, assessment of the impact of production and operational processes on environmental pollution.
In the work of Mikheev P.Yu. To carry out calculations to determine aggregated indicators of pollutant emissions, initial data were used, obtained on the basis of life cycle analysis (LCA) tools tested in world practice. The results of calculations using the developed methodology showed high convergence with the results of calculations performed using LCA. The practical significance of the work of Mikheev P.Yu. was to obtain and substantiate the values of aggregated indicators of pollutant emissions for wind turbines and wind farms.
The research materials were used in the implementation of the mega-grant “Technological challenges and socio-economic transformation in the context of energy transitions” (Agreement No. 075-15-2022-1136 dated 07/01/2022), implemented with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
The defense was successful - the members of the dissertation council voted unanimously in favor.
Mikheev P.Yu. actively works in the CIRETEC-GT laboratory on research areas such as analyzing the consequences and risks of the energy transition and assessing the investment needs of a low-carbon economy. In 2023, with his active participation, 3 articles outlining the results of research on the megagrant were written and accepted for publication in the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy (WoS, Q1).
We congratulate Pavel Yuryevich on the successful defense of his candidate's dissertation and wish him further scientific achievements in his new status - candidate of sciences!
